A fresh look at your mortgage.
When your deal is ending or your circumstances change, the lowest headline rate is only one part of the decision. DFM reviews your existing mortgage, future plans and the overall costs of suitable options.
How DFM helps
We compare the relevant options available to us, considering rates, fees, charges and your circumstances. We explain the recommendation and support the chosen application, including the documents and progress updates needed.
What we consider with you
- Your current balance, rate, deal end date and any early repayment charge.
- The costs and features of a product transfer compared with a remortgage.
- Changes to income, property value, borrowing needs or your preferred term.
Important considerations
A product transfer stays with your current lender; a remortgage moves the borrowing to another lender. Fees, eligibility and any checks vary. Keep making your current mortgage payments while options are reviewed.
We advise on a range of lenders available to us. We cannot access every lender or product; some lenders do not accept business from single-adviser firms.
Your questions
Do I have to change lender?
No. A new product with your existing lender may be an option. We consider whether staying or moving better meets your needs within the options available to us.
When should I contact you?
Contact us before your current deal ends so there is time to review your circumstances and the options. Product availability, reservation windows and processing times depend on the lender.
Can a mortgage be used to consolidate other debts?
It may be possible to repay other debts through mortgage borrowing, but previously unsecured debts would then be secured against your home. A lower monthly payment can mean a longer repayment period and a higher total cost. Fees, early repayment charges and alternatives need careful consideration. If you are struggling with repayments, independent debt advice may be more appropriate. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
