Borrowing shaped around retirement.
With a retirement interest-only mortgage, you make regular interest payments while the amount borrowed remains outstanding. The loan is usually repaid when the property is sold following the death of the last borrower or their move into long-term care, subject to the mortgage terms.
How DFM helps
We review your needs and circumstances, assess suitable options available to us and explain our recommendation and costs. If you choose to proceed, we support the application and the documents required.
What we consider with you
- Discuss how your retirement income would cover the interest payments, including if one joint borrower dies.
- Understand when the capital must be repaid and how this could affect your estate.
- Ask about lender eligibility, affordability checks, fees and the implications of future interest-rate changes.
Important considerations
DFM arranges retirement interest-only mortgages. We do not offer equity release advice. Retirement interest-only mortgages require ongoing interest payments and are different from lifetime mortgages. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
We advise on a range of lenders available to us. We cannot access every lender or product; some lenders do not accept business from single-adviser firms.
