Business protection

Help your business maintain sick pay.

Executive income protection is arranged and paid for by the business. If the insured director or employee cannot work because of illness or injury and a claim is accepted, the policy pays a monthly benefit to the business to help fund ongoing sick pay.

How DFM helps

We review the individual’s role, remuneration and existing arrangements, then compare suitable cover. We explain who owns the policy, how benefits reach the employee, the premiums and important limitations before supporting the application.

What we consider with you

  • Review the director’s or employee’s earnings, existing cover and sick-pay arrangements.
  • Choose a waiting period, benefit amount and claim payment period that reflect the business’s needs and budget.
  • Consider whether additional cover for employer National Insurance and pension contributions is available and appropriate.

Important considerations

Eligibility, covered earnings, benefit limits and payments depend on underwriting and policy terms. Additional employer-cost cover may be available at extra cost. Benefits are paid to the employer; sick pay passed to the employee through payroll is subject to the usual deductions. Tax treatment depends on the arrangement and circumstances and should be checked with your accountant.
